18th Birthday Decorations

Think of the changes that come with one’s 18th birthday and decorate your party room with these elements in mind.

You have lots of choices on what to decorate your walls and posters of movies that have something to with turning 18, vote posters (with or without the celebrant’s photo), and pictures of fancy cars are just the tip of the iceberg.

Pictures or posters of ivy league colleges, may it be a campus picture or some cool students wearing their (sports/cheerleading) uniforms will be great additions. If the celebrant is very much into military, then those should be part of your decorations.

You can also decorate your ceiling with cut outs that represents turning 18 in all possible way. This can include the many ways of writing 18 – in words, the number, Roman Numeral, and of course in different languages. Use different colors, shapes and sizes to provide variety and color to your party room.

For your centerpiece, you can arrange some fruits, snacks, candies or chocolates to look like the number 18. Another edible centerpiece idea is to decorate some cupcakes with the number 1 while other cupcakes with the number 8. If you want fruits instead of pastries, we absolutely love caramelized apples and we think using caramelized apples instead of cupcakes will be quite amazing.

Another centerpiece idea is to use a beer bottle as a flower vase. Another option is to use a margarita glass that contains a candle floating in a colorful liquid. Decorating the glass rim with salt will make it just perfect.

And of course, what’s a party without balloons? We’ll leave it to you whether to get special eighteen-shaped ones or just go for ordinary ones with special 18 prints. Either will be great additions to what you have prepared so far.

21st Birthday Decorations

Being able to drink legally is one of the (good) things which comes with turning 21 so we think that decorating your party room to look like a pub or bar is a cool idea. Or better yet, have the party in actual bar so as to solve your decoration problems.

In line with the bar idea, adding beer and wine bottles in the picture, different glasses and pints, barrels, and the like are very welcome. We suggest going to your favorite pub and getting some decoration tips to make your party decoration more authentic.

Having a party in your dorm or turning a party room to look like a typical college dorm is another good approach to 21st birthdays. So this means posters of different university activities like sports events and service advertisements are necessary additions. You can even add some vandals here and there if you think that will add authenticity to your decoration.

You can also decorate your ceiling with cut outs that represents turning 21 in all possible way. This can include the many ways of writing 21 – in words, the number, Roman Numeral, and of course in different languages. Another option is to use a margarita glass that contains a candle floating in a colorful liquid. Decorating the glass rim with salt will make it just perfect.

And of course, what’s a party without balloons? We think getting balloons in either special 21-shaped ones or in the celebrant's favorite color will be the way to go.

You're nearly there, but before you say done, though not exactly something that you put out there as decoration, playing the right music will add a lot to the atmosphere you're setting so be sure to pick some cool music with the birthday girl or boy.

30th Birthday Decorations

For 30th birthday parties, one approach is to decorate the party room with some noteworthy elements from the decade when the celebrant was born. So if s/he was born during the 80s, then this means Hello Kitty elements are very welcome, and so are Care Bear and Rainbow Brite-related decors, if she happens to love them.

Any poster or picture related to popular movies and music of said time is also a MUST, since they are just great in stressing the right timeline.

You can also decorate your ceiling with cut outs that represents turning 30 in all possible way. This can include the many ways of writing 30 – in words, the number, Roman Numeral, and of course in different languages. Use different colors, shapes and sizes to provide variety and color to your party room.

For your centerpiece, you can again use the decade elements for your table decoration. Another approach is to use the magic number - arrange some fruits, snacks, candies or chocolates to look like the number 30 or decorate some cupcakes with the number 3 while other cupcakes with the number 0. If you want fruits instead of pastries, we absolutely love caramelized apples and we think using caramelized apples instead of cupcakes will be quite amazing.

We love this personalized centerpiece idea so we’re pitching it in. We suggest that you create a photo collage of the birthday boy or girl as your table decoration. Pick some photos that represent important milestones of his/her life and those will be great material for your centerpiece collage.

Though not exactly something you place out as decoration, the right music (something that is popular during the celebrant’s birth year) will add to the ambiance you’re setting. Pick some favorites with the birthday celebrant so you can play them during the party.

And of course, what’s a party without balloons? We’ll leave it to you whether to get special thirty-shaped ones or just go for ordinary ones with special 30 prints. Either will be great additions to what you have prepared so far.

40th Birthday Decorations

Black, white and gray are the default choice for your 40th birthday party decoration hues, but if you want to go for lively colors that happens to be the birthday celebrant’s favorite shade, that should also be fine.

Classic movie posters should decorate your walls. Pictures of concerts of popular bands wearing their dated outfits and big hair will be cool. Be sure to consult the (wo)man of the hour for his/her favorites.

Decorate your ceiling with cut outs that represents turning 40 in all possible way. This can include the many ways of writing 40 – in words, the number, Roman Numeral, and of course in different languages. Use different colors, shapes and sizes to provide variety and color to your party room.

Another edible centerpiece idea is to decorate some cupcakes with the number 4 while other cupcakes with the number 0. Similar to one of the invitation ideas, you can also use a photo collage of the birthday boy or girl as your table decoration. Pick some photos that represent important milestones of his/her life and those will be great material for your centerpiece collage.

Candles showcased in old-fashion candle holders will add to the feel you’re aiming for, and is definitely worth considering. And if you, like us, love flowers in your table, then find some old-looking (we don’t mean shabby) bottles and plant some daisies in them and voila, you have a pretty and old-fashion table decoration right there.

Though not exactly something you place out as decoration, the right music will add to the ambiance you’re setting. Pick some favorites with the birthday celebrant so you can play them during the party.

And of course, what’s a party without balloons? We’ll leave it to you whether to get special forty-shaped ones or just go for ordinary ones with special 40 prints. Either will be great additions to what you have prepared so far.

50th Birthday Decorations

Black, white and gray are the default choice as your 50th birthday party decoration hues, but if you want to go for lively colors that happens to be the birthday celebrant’s favorite shade, that should also be fine.

Classic movie posters should decorate your walls. Pictures of concerts of popular bands wearing their dated outfits and big hair will be cool. Be sure to consult the (wo)man of the hour for his/her favorites.

Decorate your ceiling with cut outs that represents turning 50 in all possible way. This can include the many ways of writing 50 – in words, the number, Roman Numeral, and of course in different languages. Use different colors, shapes and sizes to provide variety and color to your party room.

For your centerpiece, you can arrange some fruits, snacks, candies or chocolates to look like the number 50. Another edible centerpiece idea is to decorate some cupcakes with the number 5 while other cupcakes with the number 0. If you want fruits instead of pastries, we absolutely love caramelized apples and we think using caramelized apples instead of cupcakes will be quite amazing.

Though not exactly something you place out as decoration, the right music will add to the ambiance you’re setting. Pick some favorites with the birthday celebrant so you can play them during the party.

And of course, what’s a party without balloons? We’ll leave it to you whether to get special fifty-shaped ones or just go for ordinary ones with special 50 prints. Either will be great additions to what you have prepared so far.

60th Birthday Decorations

You can go for the classic look and have everything in black, white and gray. However, decorating with the celebrant’s favorite shades will also be a nice touch.

To make your decoration fitting to your chosen theme, you must showcase some precious moments about the (wo)man of the hour. You can start with photographs showing his/her life’s milestones (eg. Photos when s/he was born, singing/dancing, graduated, got married, etc). Follow this up with photos and actual items which influenced him/her – this can include pictures of friends and mentors, favorite hobbies and activities (display dozens books if s/he loves reading, his/her favorite swim wear if s/he’s a beach person). Some mementos that s/he considers important can also be brought out. And lastly, pictures of places that influenced him/her will also be great additions.

Adding pictures or items from the past will do a lot to your setup. Movie posters of classic movies, concert pictures of old bands, fashion of the past (big hair, bellbottoms), items like jukebox, phones, and old records and the like.

For your centerpiece, you can go for one with more personal touch and display a cool photo of the celebrant. Another option is to pick some of his/her favorite flowers and stick them in a signature vase. Be sure to encourage your guests to sign the vase and make more mementos that will be treasured by the celebrant.

Another approach on your centerpiece is to use some “antiques” or old items as table decoration. Candles in candelabras, lamps, miniature old cars are just some examples.

Any party will not be complete without some balloons and for this party, anything in black, white, gray or in the celebrant’s favorite shade will be perfect!

Now you’re almost ready to greet your guests. But before you say “Done”, be sure to compile some classic music (ask the celebrant for favorites) that you can play during the party.

Alice in Wonderland Birthday Decorations

Red, white and black are the usual colors that one can easily associate with Alice in Wonderland. But if you want to go for less stark, then having more sky blue and white rather than black and red should help you do the trick.

Once you have the right colors in place, then it’s time to add the “right” elements to help you achieve an Alice in Wonderland atmosphere. You can start with adding lots of heart cutouts in all shapes and sizes, playing cards, especially the heart suit, paintings of giant and dwarf trees, mushrooms, flowers, and so on. The Cheshire cat is one popular character in the story, so you definitely want to include him and his ever popular grin in one of those trees. A rabbit or two in the picture and his ever-present watch are also worthy additions. We also think that adding a small door in the entrance (and requiring your guests to drink a concoction of your making so they can enter the door) is a wonderful gimmick and is surely worth considering.

We also have tons of ideas for your perfect Alice centerpiece. A set of tea pot and cups will be a good and easy centerpiece idea, and so is a bowl of cookies with eat me, try me, take one icingd on each. Drinks with drink me labels are also quite easy to prepare, so we’re pitching that in as well.

Using your tea pot as a vase or using a wine bottle with a blue dress and a white apron to house your colorful flowers is also a centerpiece idea worth looking at. If you don’t like the Alice dress idea, then attaching a white rabbit in your wine bottle will be a great alternative.

For balloons, an assortment of red, sky blue, and white balloons will be enough, but if you can get heart-shaped ones, those are just perfect.

Asian Birthday Decorations

The good thing about this party theme is that there are lots of elements that you can use in your party decorations.

Red and orange are the best color candidates on any Asian party. Your room decoration should include chopsticks, take-out boxes, dragons, Chinese lanterns, origami folded in all shapes and sizes, and red Chinese envelopes, just to name a few.

You also have lots of options for your centerpiece. You can either go for a bunch of flowers in a Chinese vase, or just place some take-out boxes full of fortune cookies instead. Some of those lucky bamboo plants will also work as your Asian table decoration, and so will red candles and Asian spoons with candies lined up in a porcelain plate.

A party won’t be complete without balloons and for your Asian party, you can either get dragon balloons or just choose typical ones in red and white. Those should work nicely with the other things you have prepared so far.

Beach Birthday Decorations

The cool thing about this theme and having it along the beach is that you have instant decoration and ambiance right there!

Having your guests in the right attire will also accentuate the beach feel you’re aiming for, so get them to wear their sunglasses, sombreros, shorts, swim suit, and the like.

An aquarium bowl with water, sand and assorted shells will make you a pretty centerpiece. If that doesn’t please you, a glass full of shells might just do the trick. Or better yet, just fill a classy vase full of colorful flowers and you’re all set.

Complete the beach ambiance by getting some special-shaped balloons. Anything that comes in palm tree shape, beach ball, or flamingo is just perfect!

Blue's Clues Birthday Decorations

Blue and some magenta (if you’re having this for your little girl) must be the color dominating your Blue’s Clues party. Another approach is to decorate your party room to look like an episode of a Blue’s Clues (pink and peach wallpapers and surroundings) and we bet your kiddies will have one heck of time with your attempt to bring Blue’s Clues to life.

Speaking of a Blue’s Clues setting, make sure you have Sidetable Drawer, Mailbox, Tickety Tock, and the other Blue’s Clues  characters in the picture. You can just use some pictures to make this happen, but if you’re up to it, we think using your creative juices to turn your typical clock to look like Tickety Tock is definitely worth considering. We also think a red chair (or a chair with red pillows if you don’t have one that comes in red) should be placed right at the center of your party room, which will make it the perfect chair for your kiddie of the hour.

That should give you tons of decorations already, but if you think you’re still up for more, just scatter some blue and/or magenta paw and bone-shaped cut-outs, dog stuff toys, and balloons decorated with paw prints to further accentuate your chosen theme. If you have a Happy Birthday banner, make sure each letter is “written” in a paw-cutout to make your birthday banner way cooler.

For your centerpiece, we think that a vase with blue paw prints drawn or pasted on each is quite cool and easy to make, so we’re pitching that in. We also love the idea of using a used wine bottle as a vase for your flowers, and by attaching a dog stuff toy on it, it will make you a nice Blue’s Clues  centerpiece as well. Want an edible centerpiece instead? Just get some decorative candy jar, fill it with blue M&Ms, and you just made the day of your kid guests.

We already mentioned above that balloons with paw prints will add a lot to the atmosphere you’re setting, but if you think that’s too much, then you have an option of getting a paw or bone-shaped balloon or if you want something more simple, ordinary blue and/or magenta balloons should also do the trick. Either will be great additions to what you have prepared so far.

Care Bear Birthday Decorations

Yellow, pink and blue. Those are just some of the colors of certain Care Bear characters, and these, plus the other shades associated to the rest of the Care Bears, should decorate your party room. Care Bears live at the Kingdom of Caring, and to make your party room look like it, you need to have lots of clouds, rainbow, and heart poles. If you cannot imagine what we’re talking about, make sure you watch this Care Bear video clip so as to get the right picture.

We also think that balloons that come in the right Care Bear hues should be scattered around the room. To make them the perfect additions to your decoration, we love the idea of decorating each with a particular Care Bear symbol. No idea where to start? We found this article, which contains the complete list of the different Care Bears and the symbols associated to each.

Now for your table decoration. We love the idea of a used wine bottle serving as a vase to some great-looking flowers. And too make it just the perfect centerpiece for a Care Bear party, a Care Bear stuff toy should be attached to each. That will make your table look great and very theme-based, and at the same time, those flowers and stuff toy will make a wonderful take-away for one of your friends.

Another centerpiece idea is to have a jar full of rainbow-colored candies. That should be easy enough to prepare, but if you want to take that idea into the next level, you can purchase some Care Bear gummy bears and use that instead.

And lastly if you, like us, love the idea of an edible centerpiece, we think that cupcakes icingd with the right Care Bear symbol is worth considering. Just place them in a cake stand of some sort, and you now have a theme-based table decoration, which should also satisfy your guests’ sweet tooth.

We think we’ve given you enough ideas to play with. If you’re still not satisfied with what you have, there are lots of Care Bear videos uploaded around the net. Watching one or two should remind you of the Care Bear elements you enjoyed before and which you can bring to your child’s 1st birthday party!

Circus 1st Birthday Decorations

If there’s one word that should describe your circus party, it’s colorful. There should be tons of reds, yellows, and blues, from your tent, if you have one, down to the banners and flags that you have scattered around your party room.

To add to the fun, you can have a ticket booth which your guests need to go through before each can enter your party room. Each attendee should get a ticket, wherein a ticket can be your food stub, favor stub and the like. If you have a friend who doesn’t mind dressing up like a clown (or better yet hire one), have him man the booth and be the one to give each kid their party ticket.

Your walls should be full of posters, which can be posters of animals, talents (eg. Jugglers), and show announcements. To personalize things, we love the idea of having a custom-made poster which features the celebrant for his/her cool show. Having a poster that features the parents of the celebrant for other show(s) is also quite cool.

For your table, you can consider having a jar of peanuts as your centerpiece, which you can use for game purposes as well (guess how many peanuts) or as something that your guests can munch on. Colorful candies is also something you can consider in replacement of peanuts.

If you prefer something beautiful to look at, how about some flowers in a used wine bottle? Just add a stuff toy elephant to make it the perfect circus birthday table decor. And the elephant stuff toy? It will also make a gift to one of your lucky guest.

Depending on how big your event is, you might also need to number your guest tables. You can use flags to indicate the table number. But if you prefer something altogether, you can use cut-outs in the shape of peanuts, clowns, and other circus elements.

If you’re up to it, you can also prepare some stations wherein your guests, especially kiddie ones, can experience some face painting, have their pictures taken, practice their juggling, play with the trampoline, and so on.

You can also invite some clowns to do a show of some sort, which we think will be a big hit to your young and not so young guests alike.

Colorful balloons are MUST Haves on a circus party. Anything that comes in red, blue or yellow is very welcome, although we saw some balloons with the right clown design that you might want to look at.

Cowboy Birthday Decorations

The cool thing about having a cowboy birthday party is that there are lots of elements that you can play around with, which should make your party decorations a breeze.

Although brown should be the dominant color in your party room, having some white and black in the picture will also be fitting. Add some cut-outs shaped like cowboy hats, rocking horse, and boots for your room hangings. Some cactus, guitar and horseshoe cut-outs will be worthwhile additions. If you can go beyond cut-outs and get the real deal, that will be way cooler.

Adding some cute wanted posters (something related to your birthday boy) will be pretty neat. If you have them, make sure you add posters of Western flicks in the picture as well.

We don’t know about you, but we think that adding a swinging door, something that one usually see in a saloon will be perfect, so if you have the right place for it at your party room, we suggest you go for it.

As for your centerpiece, you will also have lots of options. We think that those plastic horse toys lined up in the middle of your table will be fitting and easy to prepare. So is a cowboy hat full of wildflowers. If you can get some, cactus plants is also a table decoration alternative. But if you think you are up to it, we attended a 1st birthday party wherein a used wine bottle and a western teddy bear attached to it was their centerpiece, and we absolutely loved it. Adding a bunch of your favorite flowers in said wine bottle will makes things absolutely perfect!

To wrap up your party’s decoration, we saw some great-looking white balloons with black cow prints on them and we think they’re perfect for cowboy parties. But if you would rather go for the ordinary variety, we think that an assortment of brown and white balloons will work as well.

Dora 1st Birthday Decorations

The colors you want on your Dora party should include pink, orange and purple. We also think that adding elements that come in what we call nature hues (green, brown or blue) will be fitting additions.

Speaking of Mother Nature, we think that adding pictures of trees, hills, river, and other places that Dora and Boots need to go through with the help of The Map, will not just add to the Dora-feel of your party, they will also be necessary when you play one of the game ideas we have.

Pictures of Dora and friends should be scattered around your party room. Text like Happy Birthday, the name of the celebrant, and the like can be included with each cartoon character’s poster or picture. Stuff toy of all sizes that features Dora, Boots, Swiper The Fox and other animals present on this popular show can also be added. Pictures or real bananas should also be all over the room, decorating your walls, as your table centerpiece, and so on.

Since Spanish words is an element that is ever present on each Dora episode, we think that birthday greetings in Spanish, adjectives that describe the birthday celebrant (in Spanish, of course) should also be added in the picture.

If you didn’t like the previous banana centerpiece idea, then a used wine bottle that will work as a vase for some fresh flowers can be your table decoration. To make it perfect for your Dora party, you might want to attach a Boots or any monkey stuff toy to it. A violet backpack that contains lots of goodies is also a worthy centerpiece idea. And the cool thing about these centerpiece ideas is that they will also make a nice gift for a lucky guest from each table.

Though not exactly a decoration, we think that playing some cool Dora episodes during some segment of the party (eg. While everybody’s busy eating) can add a lot to the Dora feel you’re aiming for. If you think this might be too distracting for your guests, then playing Dora’s favorite music (Come on Vamanos) together with different birthday songs is a good enough alternative.

And of course, what’s a birthday party without some colorful balloons? Just get balloons with the right Dora colors and you’ll be fine.
